Uni Days Side Hustles

Some things I did to earn an income in my uni days . Sadly, I lost the photos.

Teaching (2010)

Teaching in  a primary school (just before uni)

I worked as a sales rep in a recharge card wholesale shop (just before uni)

I used to go to Ochanja market from school to buy the raw materials for liquid soap and airfreshener, which I produced myself. Then I’d take it to different hostels to market and sell.

I used to make beaded crafts such as jewelry, bag, mat, flower vase, etc.

I was self-taught. No mixer, My oven was a pot with stones on a stove. My cake tasted good, but I never perfected my icing skill. It was more of a hobby. But I had one customer pay me. She needed a cake for her church’s women’s day.

Started from volunteering on campus fellowship. My head of department (after she graduated) made a business out of it and used to call me for jobs. I loved it.

I was learning this how to sew online. Made a few things for myself, but never perfected it enough to sell it. My goal was to open a clothing line that made and promoted decency. But digital skills took my whole heart, and I never pursued this again. In 2020, I finally gave out my electric sewing machine to someone who needed it.
